The Charlottesville Sexual Health & Wellness Clinic was established in 1999 by Dr. Annette Fuglsang Owens, MD PhD.

Dr. Owens originates from Denmark and has resided in Charlottesville, Virginia since 1991. She received a MD degree at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1990, and a PhD degree in Vascular Physiology in 1996 from the same university. In the United States, she is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and she is certified as a sex counselor by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).

A member of European as well as American societies for the study of human sexuality, Dr. Owens provides general consulting about sexuality issues at the Charlottesville Sexual Health & Wellness Clinic.

Dr. Owens specializes in clients of any sexual orientation, with sexual dysfunctions, and people with chronic illnesses, physical and other disabilities. She is the Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of The Sexual Health Network, www.SexualHealth.com.
