The Charlottesville Sexual Health & Wellness Clinic was established in 1999 by Dr. Annette Fuglsang Owens, MD PhD. The office closed in October 2008.

Dr. Owens originates from Denmark and has resided in Charlottesville, Virginia since 1991. She received a MD degree at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1990, and a PhD degree in Vascular Physiology in 1996 from the same university. She is certified as a sexuality counselor by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).

A member of European as well as American societies for the study of human sexuality, Dr. Owens is the Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of The Sexual Health Network, www.SexualHealth.com.
